If you love all things herb, magic, gardening, oils, healing
plants, greening, plant lore, herbalism, folk magic, animism, ecology,
permaculture, conjure remedies and growing your own healing allies – this is
for you. Deploy the botanics in your resilience magic practice.
Garden your lush fertile edges, grow your own garden of the
soul and flower from inside out. If you can’t plant your own (fruit, veg,
herbs, flowers) order some dried herbs or oils and make a DIY blend.
As Chris Johnstone the Resilience teacher tells us, “find a
can-do remedy”. With healing oils you can really care for yourself and others.
Add a nice candle, create space for meditation and yoga practice and you’ve
made a ritual for yourself and a path to deep wellbeing. Ward off stress and attract
joy.
Because here we are with our big hearts and wide-open minds
and arms. Here we stand with our books, herbs, incense and words. We speak with
our prayers, blessings, reverence for land and nature and invocations for hope
and happiness. It’s time to garden the mind and oil it to mend it – now, when it
counts. We can be one with Saint Martha the Dominator or Diane the goddess. We
can break blocks and bring in the light. We can be warriors of natural prepping.
I don’t have a garden only a balcony but one day when I have
more land (a vegetable patch, raised beds, herb garden, allotment, shared
communal space etc) I will sow more seeds of: Burdock, Calendula, Comfrey, Dandelion,
Lettuce, Self-Heal, Yarrow. And Mugwort, Wormwood, Hibiscus, Chamomile, Greek
Mountain, Lemonbalm, Nettle, Tulsi, Marshmallow (all for excellent healing
teas). I’d add Astragalus, Echinacea, Lavender, Feverfew, Hyssop, White Sage,
Valerian, Elecampane, Evening Primrose, Motherwort, Cayenne and Wood Betony.
And I will have a bountiful pantry and bathroom cabinet for all to share, with:
Solomon’s Seal, Blue Cohosh, Mullein, Rue, Lemongrass, Salt, Cinnamon,
Eucalyptus, Pine Needle, Devils Shoestring, Frankincense, Myrrh, High John the
Conqueror, Rosemary, Bay, Caraway, Fennel, Garlic, Hyssop, Marjoram and
Sandalwood.
For now I will continue to use dried herbs, herb oils and
essential oils for my cleansing and healing. Remedies for resilience are needed
more than ever in these uncertain times. We can be a seedling, or our own tonic
for the soul. Our own tree of life.
