Roots, Rituals and Remedies

Herbal craft for hearth and home are reliable little rituals and remedies. These are unusual times that need radical response. This is your rescue mission to salvage hope and health. Fast instruction for quick results and expediting change, I bring an alternate path through the woods. We maybe socially distant in a time of modern plague, but with nature's larder we can survive resiliently through crisis.

We can be a torch in the darkness, like a renegade allotment in a digital landscape. No one blogs anymore, this is a time of Instagram Live, Zoom and streaming. But I will blog, like some late nineties Luddite. I will dig under moonlight in beautiful Blogger soil. I type (yes type - with fingers and hands and wrist strain) with tears of joy for a new analogue world of small, organic & local futures. I welcome you to my garden.

I am grateful for botanicals, for herbs that drink and dance through eternity. For Basil, Calendula, Cayenne, Chamomile, Chickweed, Dandelion, Echinacea, Garlic, Ginger, Lemonbalm, Lemongrass, Lavender, Peppermint, Red Clover, Rosemary, Sage, St. John's Wort, Thyme and Turmeric. I give thanks for Cinnamon, Chicory, Spearmint, Valerian, Golden Seal, Oats, Mullein, Nettle, Plantain, Linden, Wintergreen, Elder flower, Rosehip, Burdock, Lime, Raspberry Leaf, Grapefruit, Reishi, Dill, Rhodiola, Rose, Chaga, Parsley, Sunflower, Oregano, Fennel, Anise, Peach, Rose, Pomegranate, Dock, Date, Blue Tansy, Magnolia, Marjoram, Juniper, Myrtle, Mugwort, Hazel and Wormwood.

The fearless beauty of the wild, the fragrant grace of a garden, the bounty of its fruit and the secrets of its roots and resins. The plants are the doorway to the wild self - the purpose of their signature. The perishable impermanent kingdoms invite us to step forth, in dappled light, into herbaceous temples. At the crossroads of the dirt, feeling for fertile edges, a botanic portal awaits us. Here one can nurse wounds and heal with wildcraft. Folk recipes are road-openers and ways to wellbeing.

With our newly greened fingers, may all beings have happiness, be free from suffering, never be separated from joy and may we thrive in equanimity - free from fear and full of healthy vitality.
